The Little One’s godmother and her family are staying with us this week. We’ve had a great time and the kids have really enjoyed spending so much time together.
Today it’s the godmother’s birthday and whilst they all went out this afternoon, the girls and I have made a cake to eat when we get back from dinner at Taste of Texas tonight. The girls are very proud of their cake, particularly the Big One who taught the Little One and me to make icing roses after seeing it done about 3 weeks ago on the BBC’s Junior Bake Off! I hadn’t realised she had paid that much attention to it but she gave us both very detailed instructions on how to do it.
What do you think? Pretty good I thought considering they are 3 and 5 and the flowers they made were far better than mine!

What a beautiful cake!!
Thank you! We were very pleased with it!
The icing was excellent, but you missed out the most important part. The sponge filling was multi-coloured. It was like an acid house t shirt from the 90s. The colouring has given me lots of energy since then though….
American food colourings are very vivid indeed…
Stunning cake. Well done all of you. Now where is my bit? XXX
