So, I’m off to the UK tomorrow. The girls are staying with my Lovely Husband and it’s my first time away from them, ever.
I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible:
– there are meals in the freezer
– packed lunches for school are prepared apart from the fresh stuff
– all washing is done
– school bags are packed
– pancakes and waffles are made in the freezer for breakfast
– bedtime stories are recorded on an old iPhone in case of emergencies.
There will be lots of other things I will do before I go tomorrow afternoon, but you get the picture.
I was just explaining all this to my Lovely Husband when he cut me short saying it would all be fine (which, of course, I know) as the girls know that he’s in charge. Then to prove his point he asked the girls “who is in charge while Mummy is away for 2 days?”
The answer, after 2 seconds delay whilst the Big One considered her options was “You” pointing at Daddy. This made him grin and look at me in a “See? It’s all under control” kind of way.
Then the Big One added “And me”. And the Little One added “And me!” Then they both start jumping up and down on the sofa shouting “Me! Me! Me!” and laughing a lot.
This made me laugh. My Lovely Husband tried a different approach.
“You will me help me whilst Mummy is away?”
“Yes”, agrees the Big One. “We’ll help you put your washing in the washing basket!” This was followed by howls of laughter from both girls!
Yep, it’s all under control. I feel much better now I know that the children are in charge.
